"What If Double Clicking A Stack Doesn't Install?"

It seems that many people are having some trouble when trying to install a new stack by double clicking. So let me give you some instructions that will help you manually install stacks.

NOTE: I have taken the time to create a video that will also walk you through manually installing stacks. You can watch the video by clicking the icon below:

Step 1:
Make sure you are using Stacks 1.3 .... I know, I know, but you’d be surprised at how many folks thought they were using Stacks 1.3 only to discover they were using Stacks 1.2+
If you are sure you are using Stacks 1.3 then proceed to Step 2

Step 2:
In a Finder window, navigate to your user in the sidebar (usually located under “Places” )

Making Room For New Buttons

About a year ago I released the “Awesome Buttons” stack set that included several stacks that allowed you to create some really cool looking buttons for your website. However, one of the drawbacks to those buttons was that you could not use the built in linking feature of RapidWeaver. I had to create an option in the HUD where you could use only a hard link to a page or site. This was a limitation in the Stacks plugin API and we could not really do anything about that limitation.
That is until now ... with the release of Stacks 1.3 that limitation no longer exists thus making it possible to have a single stack replace all of those other stacks.

Today I am announcing the release of a brand new stack called “Inline Buttons”. Here are some of the features of the stack:
  • Uses no external stylesheets (making for faster and more consistent load times)
  • Uses the internal linking feature of RapidWeaver ... just highlight the text and add a link the same way that you would with any other text in RapidWeaver
  • Set button width, height, & line height
  • Add buttons dynamically
  • Buttons can be vertical or horizontal depending on the width of their surrounding container
  • Gradients - Modern browsers use linear gradients via CSS3 ... Microsoft browsers (all versions of IE 6+) use a proprietary filter to apply the gradient effects
  • Sparkle updates - Added the ability to end out updates via the Sparkle update system. This will assure you that you always have the latest version of the stack

You can learn more about the Inline Buttons stack by visiting our Stacks Store

EOL (End of Life) for Original Partitions Stack Set

This week will mark the official “shelving” (otherwise known as “end of life” ) for the original Partitions Stack Set to make room for the new & improved Partitions Stack.
The new version will include the most requested feature .... ability to add columns on the fly.
The html/css has been greatly optimized and will result in much smaller file sizes and will not be reliant on external style sheets to achieve the number of rows or columns.
You will be able to add up to 12 columns and as many as 25 rows per stack ... yep, you read that correctly ... 12 columns and 25 rows per single stack.

This update will be FREE for everyone who has purchased the Partitions Stack Set in the past either as a stand-a-lone item or as part of the Stacks Bundle. Updates will be sent out via the e-mail address you used when purchasing.
This update will require that you use the latest release of the Stacks plugin from Yourhead.com. (Stacks v1.3)

RWT Branded Stacks ... News

RWT branded stacks will be soon be issued updates that will include many new features and optimization fixes. These updates WILL BE REPLACING the current version of the stack AND WILL REQUIRE you to update to the new version of Stacks (whenever it is released).
Of course, I will not release these updates until the new version of Stacks is released, so no need to worry. However, if you do not plan on updating to the new version of the Stacks then you should keep the current version of the stack you are using.

Once the updates are issued I will provide a 30 day grace period before dropping support for older stacks.

If you already have Stacks version 1.2 then you should go and get the update to version 1.3 (as soon as it is released)

The following stacks will be issued updates:
  • Partitions - Much better, much nicer, much smoother, more powerful! (in a BIG way)
  • Awesome Buttons - This set of stacks will actually be dropped and replaced with a new set of stacks that will also be replacing the “Buttons” stack set.
  • Buttons - This set of stacks will actually be dropped and replaced with a new set of stacks that will also be replacing the “Awesome Buttons” stack set.
  • Ad - This set of stacks will be updated with more powerful features
  • Lightvu - This stack will see an update as soon as the main Lightvu.js file is updated via Lightvu.com
  • E-Store - This set will be updated to be more streamlined, less css, & less dependancies which will make it more responsive on pages where a lot of E-store stacks have been used.

The remaining stacks will be issued minor updates once the above updates are released.
ALL of the RWT branded stacks will also be updated to include the Sparkle auto updating system that will automatically check to see that you have the latest version of the stack. If a new version has been issued it will automatically download and alert you of the new version.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the update process please do not hesitate to let me know.
